INDIA/Community Based women leadership programme
Description
There is a critical need to network, build capacity, develop leadership, promote a gender analysis for ESCR (economic, social and cultural rights) advocates, and to create tools to raise awareness around women's ESCR.Providing women rights leaders support to enable them to claim their rights is essential. The project objective is to develop a community-based leadership programme for women from the most marginalized and vulnerable groups in the northern Hindi-speaking states of India. The capacity of marginalized women leaders is built in the use of formal and informal human rights mechanisms so that they can become effective human rights practitioners. The trainings in the project focus on human rights, and they provide issue-based explorations on poverty, vulnerability, marginalization and discrimination from a gender perspective. They also provide opportunities for sharing challenges and achievements.
