INT/Regional partnership to promote trade and investment in sub-Sahara

The project is a regional partnership between the Government of Finland and the MDG Centres and ICFRA, the Millennium Cities Initiative (MCI) of the Earth Institute at Columbia University and the Vale Columbia Centre on Sustainable International Investment (VCC) to strengthen sub-national investment capacity in sub-Saharan Africa, particularly in Mekelle of Ethiopia, Kumasi in Ghana and Tabora in Tanzania. The project will (1) assist secondary cities/regions in generating more investment (both local and foreign), to build up their productive capacity and their ability to trade; this, in turn, will contribute to reaching the MDGs; and (2) contribute to global dialog on the importance of increasing sustainable investment and action at the subnational (cities/region) level.
