UNHCR/humanitarian assistance to the South Sudan regional situation

The violence that erupted in South Sudan in December 2013 has so far driven 2,3 million people from their homes. The number of internally displaced people is altogether 1,65 million and 757 000 people are refugees in the neighboring countries. The overall needs for regional appeal to respond the refugee situation are nearly 638 million USD. The UNHCR needs are over 292 million USD. The UN appeals for South Sudan for 2016 amount of 1,3 billion USD. The share of UNHCR is 133 million USD, the second largest after WFP.
