International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Iraq emergency operation; Finnish Red Cross

Description

The parties to the conflict in Iraq are preparing for the fight over the city of Mosul and its surroundings. The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has estimated that the entire operation will have a severe humanitarian impact on the lives of 3 million people. The ICRC's contingency plan focuses on the distribution of water, food hygiene and household items to IDP's, supporting clinics with medicine and dressing kits, as well as training and supporting the staff of health facilities. The Finnish Red Cross (FRC) will support the ICRC's operation by procuring emergency goods and by deploying a logistician under the ICRC umbrella.
