Description
The International Peace Institute is an independent, international not-for-profit think tank dedicated to promoting the prevention and settlement of conflicts between and within states by strengthening international peace and security institutions. To achieve its purpose, IPI employs a mix of policy research, convening, publishing and outreach. The project "Promoting International Development Through Inclusivity, Partnership and Knowledge" consists of a selection of projects that seek to engage with governments, organizations, and civil society to address the root causes of conflict toward achieving sustained peace a prerequisite for development. The country focus is in the MENA region and Africa. The DAC-objectives are contributory development/effective governance and gender equality and diminishing of inequality. The projects seek to increase women's opportunities for participation and decisionmaking, as well as women's impact in these roles.All the proposed projects are aligned with Finland’s development policy objectives. The main goals of the project are: 1) to promote the rights of women as equal citizens in Egypt, Libya, Tunisia and Yemen 2) to research and support women's participation in mediation and peace processes 3) to promote effective governance and democracy development in Africa 4) to support the cooperation between the UN and AU within the peace operations in Africa The project will be implemented during 2014 and the budget for the project is 240 000 €.
