UN Women Enhance women’s roles in influencing the political process and contribution to peacebuilding

Women are experiencing resistance to their participation in politics in Libya and women are under-represented in political positions. The dominant perceptions of women's limited role in leadership and politics is reflected in women's preparedness to engage in political dialogues and elections. The UN Women project aims to enhance women's engagement in political dialogues and peacebuilding efforts in Libya. The objective of the project is to enhance capacities of women and youth gender equality advocates from diverse parts of Libya to participate in politics. In addition, the project supports women's participation in elections as candidates and voters. Finland's contribution is EUR 264 000.
