Presidency of the Nordic Council of Ministers 2025: Finland and Åland
The aim for the presidency is to support the Nordic prime ministers’ shared vision for the Nordic Region to be the most sustainable and integrated region in the world by 2030.
The Programme for the Presidency focuses on cooperation to achieve the vision in three priority areas: a sustainable, a competitive and a socially sustainable Nordic Region. The presidency will promote the Nordic Region’s competitiveness by stepping up cooperation in areas including innovation and sustainable solutions.
An important priority during the Presidency is also to strengthen the resilience of the Nordic countries and to promote comprehensive and extensive preparedness for various civilian crises and hybrid threats. Another priority area for the presidency is children and young people.
Finland holds the Presidency of the Nordic Council of Ministers together with the Government of Åland. The presidency rotates besstween the five Nordic countries on a yearly basis.

Secretariat for Nordic cooperation, Nordic Council of Ministers
The Secretariat for Nordic Cooperation at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs is responsible for the general planning and coordination of Finland's Nordic cooperation. The Secretariat takes care of, for example, the preparation of Nordic prime ministerial meetings and the meetings of ministers for Nordic cooperation.
In Orpo's Government, Minister of Education Anders Adlercreutz(Link to another website.) is responsible for matters related to Nordic cooperation.
The Chief of the Secretariat for Nordic Cooperation represents Finland in the Nordic Committee for Cooperation.
