Ambassador for Human Rights and Democracy Rauno Merisaari says that the human rights situation has deteriorated recently also in Europe.

The United Nations' Universal Declaration of Human Rights reached its 70th anniversary on 10 December 2018.

"The negative trend in human rights situations shows in how human rights defenders and journalists are treated and in how governments address human rights. It is somewhat surprising that this has started to show also in Europe and I am not referring to Poland and Ukraine only."

Katariina Sario, Senior Adviser for non-discrimination and the rights of persons with disabilities, tells that 15 per cent of the world population live with some sort of disability.

Persons with disabilities are often a hidden part of society and poverty is common among them.  "The most distinct bias is to think that a person with a disability would not be capable, to ignore the human being and to focus on the disability and things that the person cannot do."
