Discretionary government transfers for Europe information – 2019 application period now open

The application period for discretionary government transfers for Europe information is now open to civil society organisations. The goal of the grants is to increase awareness about the EU. Applications will be accepted until 7 December.

The Ministry for Foreign Affairs is now accepting applications from civil society organisations for discretionary government transfers for Europe information. The transfers will be granted if Parliament allocates the necessary funds in the 2019 Budget. Applications will be accepted from 3 November to 7 December 2018.

A total of EUR 470,000 has been proposed for the grants in the 2019 Budget. The goal of the grants is to increase awareness about the European Union. The focus areas for the 2019 application period are the effects of the EU’s activities on Finland and the safety of Finns, the EU’s ability to combat influencing through information and the impact of Brexit. Other important themes include the EU budget and Finland, the significance of the EU’s Arctic policy and opportunities for youth in the EU.

A separate EUR 100,000 appropriation will also be made available in 2019 for information activities organised around the European elections,

The Act on Discretionary Government Transfers (688/2001) will be observed in the granting, disbursement, use and monitoring of the use of the transfers. The transfers are available to Finnish non-profit organisations.
