New Deputy Director General and two new ambassadors

On Wednesday 22 June, the Government appointed a new Deputy Director General. At the presidential session on Wednesday 22 June, the President of the Republic decided to appoint two new Ambassadors.

The Government appointed Erik Lundberg to serve as Deputy Director General of the Political Department at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs for a fixed term from 1 July 2022 to 31 July 2023.

Lundberg will transfer to his post as Deputy Director General from the Department’s Unit for UN and General Global Affairs, where he has served as Chief Adviser since 2021. Before that, he served as Finland's Ambassador in Nairobi in 2018–2021 and in Oslo in 2014–2018. In 2011–2014, before these appointments to serve as Head of Mission, he was Director of the Unit for Human Rights Policy. His experience of work in the Diplomatic Service includes posts in the Permanent Missions of Finland to the UN in New York and in Strasbourg, Ottawa and Damascus.

Lundberg joined the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in 1995. He holds the degree of Master of Social Sciences.

Ambassadors to Buenos Aires and Dar es Salaam

The President of the Republic appointed Counsellor for Foreign Affairs Nicola Lindertz to serve as Head of Mission at the Embassy of Finland in Buenos Aires, starting on 1 September 2022. Lindertz will transfer to Argentina from the Unit for Central, Western and Southern Europe, where she has worked as Director of Unit since 2019. Before that, she served as Diplomatic Advisor to the Speaker of the Parliament of Finland. In 2015–2018, Lindertz worked at the Embassy of Finland in Paris, where she was responsible for EU affairs and export promotion. Her career in the Diplomatic Service includes posts in Tokyo and Los Angeles. Lindertz joined the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in 1996. She holds the degrees of Master of Social Sciences and Master of Science in Economics and Business Administration.

 

 

Theresa Zitting. 

The President of the Republic appointed Counsellor for Foreign Affairs Theresa Zitting to serve as Head of Mission at the Embassy of Finland in Dar es Salaam, starting on 1 September 2022. Zitting will transfer to Tanzania from the Unit for the Horn of Africa and Eastern Africa, where she has worked as Director of Unit since 2018. In 2015–2018, she worked as Team Leader at the Unit for Security Policy and Crisis Management. Zitting served at the Permanent Mission of Finland to the UN in New York in 2012–2015. Her career in the Diplomatic Service includes posts in Nairobi, The Hague and Cairo. Zitting joined the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in 1997. She holds two degrees: Master of Arts in European Economic Studies and Master of Social Sciences.
