Voluntary contribution to the OECD Development Assistance Committee´s (DAC) Programme of Work and Budget 2023-24

Description

Voluntary contribution of 750 000 EUR to the OECD Development Assistance Committee’s (DAC) Programme of Work and Budget (PWB) for the biennium 2023-24. The contribution will be paid in two annual installments (375 000 EUR in 2023 and 375 000 EUR in 2024). The OECD/DAC has a central role in the international development policy as a forum of many of the largest providers of aid. Its core activities include monitoring Official Development Assistance (ODA), setting development co-operation standards, providing guidance on policy approaches, and conducting regular peer reviews of its members. Finland is an active participant in the DAC committee and its subsidiary bodies. Finland benefits from the DAC’s research and analysis work, and it is a key forum for Finland to participate in the international development policy. DAC also helps Finland to make its development policy and programmes more effective through peer reviews that provide in-depth examinations of development systems and policies, including lessons learned. The PWB 2023-24 includes five output areas: 1) Development Finance; 2) Development Effectiveness; 3) Fragility and Triple Nexus; 4) Leaving No-one Behind; and 5) Climate (including Biodiversity). 20% of the DAC PWB has been identified to support implementation of the DAC Climate Declaration given in 2021. The budget envelope of the PWB is 40.4 million EUR. The PWB contributes indirectly to all Finland's development policy and cooperation's priories except education. Finland's next peer review is conducted in the PWB 2023-24 period.
