Increasing Climate Resilience of Zanzibar with Integrated Marine Management and Sustainable Blue Economy
Description
Increasing Climate Resilience of Zanzibar with Integrated Marine Management and Sustainable Blue Economy (BLUE-ZAN) builds on the institutional partnerships and results achieved within the earlier ICI-project ‘National Spatial Data Infrastructure for Integrated Coastal and Marine Spatial Planning’ (ZAN-SDI, 2016-2019). The objective of the BLUE-ZAN project is to support the capacity-building of Zanzibar, and eventually Tanzania, in increasing climate resilience. The activities and inputs of BLUE-ZAN will contribute to implementation of the Tanzanian Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC), in the sector of Marine and coastal environment, and fisheries. In particular, the project will increase capacities of the government officials in implementing and reporting the NDC adaptation measure of strengthening management of coastal and marine resources and monitoring systems. FInland's support fot the BLUE-ZAN project is 1 million Euros for the years 2023-2027.
