Tax Sector Budget Support to Tanzania, TAXTAN
Description
Domestic Revenue Mobilisation through a fair and efficient tax system is critical to the achievement of Tanzania’s development goals. The rationale for the TAXTAN programme derives from the needs that the Tanzanian Revenue Authority (TRA) has for the effective implementation of its Sixth Corporate Plan (CP6). The Impact statement of the programme is: “Strengthened Tax Administration and enhanced Domestic Resource Mobilisation through improved service delivery and reduced Illicit Financial Flows from tax avoidance and evasion”. The modality of the Programme is a combination of Technical Assistance (TA) and Sector Budget Support (SBS). SBS will be managed and overseen by the EU, through their existing budget support capabilities; and TA by the Finnish Public Management Institute HAUS. Finland’s support for the programme is 8 million euros during the years 2023-2026.
