Preserving the Democratic Assets in Myanmar (EBO/FELM)

Description

EBO/Felm project (Preserving the Democratic Assets in Myanmar 2023-25) contributes to strengthen the democratic resilience of non-armed actors in the face of the present Myanmar political crisis, support conflict transformation and advocate for alternative political solution, investment and prepare for the future in capacity development of individual as agents of change for Federalism and Human Rights monitoring and finally contribute to EBO’s organizational development. Project has 5 Outcome objectives; 1. Coordination between and within CSO and political parties are strengthened for them to maintain their democratic space. 2. Consensual solutions to end the crisis are considered and negotiated by key actors 3. Capacity of the ethnic minorities and the Bamar majority on the application of federalism and human rights accountability and monitoring are enhanced. 4. EBO’s organizational capacity in program management, peacebuilding methods and approaches to ensure the effectiveness and relevance of the program is strengthened. 5. The minimum conditions for peace and democracy are developed through a joint effort with local actors to transform the power relationships, conditions and structures that uphold and maintain conflict and violence. Myanmar is Finland's long-term development cooperation partner country. The project supports the implementation of Finnish development policy priority 3. peaceful and democratic societies. The objectives of the project also support the implementation of Finland's development cooperation temporary country program for Myanmar (2022-24). Finland supports the project with 4 770 000 euros during years 2023-25.
