Humanitarian assistance; Thematic support for UNDRR for Disability Inclusive Disaster Risk Reduction

In humanitarian crisis, persons with disabilities are at higher risk of losing their lives, up to 2-4 times higher than population on average. Persons with disabilities are disproportionately affected by the impacts of crisis. Ministry for Foreign Affairs supports the work of the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) on disability inclusive disaster risk reduction with 500 000 euros. In line with the commitment the Government of Finland gave in the Global Disability Summit in February 2022, the support aims to strengthen disability inclusive disaster risk reduction, including through strengthened participation of persons with disabilities and stakeholder groups of persons with disabilities. UNDRR is a long-term and trusted partner of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and the Ministry for Foreign Affairs provides core funding to the ODA eligible activities of the UNDRR annually with yearly flexible core funding of 1 million euros during 2022-2025.
