Energy and Environment Partnership Southern and East Africa Multidonor Trust Fund
Description
The Nordic Development Fund-NDF manages the EEP for the promotion of renewable energy and energy efficiency in the countries of Southern and East Africa (15 countries). The fund is a continuation of the EEP phases 1 and 2 initiated by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in 2010. EEP is one of the largest climate change interventions in Finland. The aim of the Fund's Impact level is to support the achievement of the SDGs, notably in order to achieve SDGt 1, 5.7, 8, and 13. Finland's total funding for EEP Africa 2018 - 2022 has been EUR 20,9 million for 2018-2022. The NDF has invested EUR 22 million in the fund Million and the Austrian Development Agency ADA EUR 3 million. Switzerland (EUR 8,5 million) and Iceland (EUR 2,0 million) has joined EEP Africa during the past calendar year. Denmark is also planning to join EEP Africa in the future. Additional funding, totalling EUR 9,5 million for years 2023 - 2025 is being applied for in a silent procedure, to increase Finland's financial contribution to enhance adaptation to the climate change.
