Enhancing BMKG's Capacity on Weather Climate and Air Quality Forecast and Warnings to Better Serve the Indonesian Society

The goal of the INDFIN project is to develop weather services in Indonesia. The project focuses on strengthening the capacity of the Indonesian Agency for Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics (BMKG). The project covers three areas: 1) enhancing BMKG's weather warning systems and service, 2) developing an air quality forecast model and 3) improving BMKG's capacity on aviation weather forecasting. The project promotes open information for the use of Indonesian authorities and citizens. Up-to-date and high-quality information also helps citizens to be better prepared for air pollution and extremen weather events and can at best save human lives and economic damage when natural disasters strike.
