Temporary housing facilities to Ukraine for IDPs and emergency response services

Description

Russia's attack on Ukraine has resulted in enormous humanitarian needs. Ukraine has requested from Finland, in addition to general humanitarian assistance and support to maintain functions of the public economy, also urgent material support for temporary housing needs of internally displaced persons and emergency services personnel responding to the damages caused by the war. Finland responds to Ukraine's needs for temporary housing as part of a larger short-term critical needs assistance package by allocating 5 million euros for the procurement and transferring of temporary housing to Ukraine via the EU Civil Protection Mechanism. The housing project is implemented in cooperation between the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of the Interior of Finland. The Ukrainian competent authority responsible for receiving and putting to use the modular housing is the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine. The aim is to implement the project imminently with first shipments of housing elements sent to Ukraine at the beginning of the winter heating season at the end of September/October.
