EU Junior Professional in Delegation Programme (JPD)

Description

Funding for EU Junior Professionals working in EU delegations (JPD) is one of Finland's instruments for multilateral development cooperation. The purpose of the traineeship is to provide young experts from the member states with the opportunity to work in the Commission or EEAS delegations around the world, thus gaining experience in EU external policies and practices. The EU JPD program runs every two years. The EU funds two trainees from each member state, in addition to which Finland itself funds two trainees to be placed in developing countries for the years 2021-2022. Finland has previously funded EU junior professionals in 1995-2015. The JPD program increases the number of Finnish EU experts and promotes the recruitment of Finns to European Union institutions. The JPD program has been found useful in preparing young experts for international careers. With Finnish funding, two experts are placed in delegations in developing countries for 2021-2023. The salary and other expenses arising from the 2nd year internship are EUR 104 126.
