Communications with citizens and events

The implementation of the goals of Finland´s development policy relies on the essential support of Finnish citizens and the relevant interest groups. The Unit for Development Communications supports the Ministry´s departments and units in charge of development policy and development cooperation in communicating about their work. The common goal is to make both the policies and their relevance as well as the results of Finland´s development cooperation known among the stakeholders and the Finnish public. The guidelines for all the Ministry communications are openness, clarity and reliability. Timely communications, active cooperation with the media and strategic work with the stakeholders are all needed. Long-term global education is equally important as it paves the way for global citizenship. The Unit for Development Communications takes part in selected key public events during the year as well as produces communication materials suited to reach out to the visitors of the events and to the general public at large. Communication will be carried out in cooperation with a Communication Agency that has been selected through a procurement process. The allowance for public events and campaigns is 250 000 euros and it is to be used to communications in 2022 and to commitments for projects in 2023.
