Finnish Refugee Council humanitarian projects 2020
Description
Ministry for Foreign Affairs will provide 800 000 euros for the Finnish Refugee Council for projects in Ethiopia and Myanmar. Finnish Refugee Council is applying for humanitarian funding for the first time. Both projects will be implemented in refugee/IDP camps. At the core of the project in Ethiopia is the access to Functional Adult Literacy (FAL) for vulnerable refugees and host community members. Literacy skills are essential preconditions to informed decision making, personal empowerment, active and passive participation in local as well as wider society. The project in Myanmar aims at enhancing the gender-based violence (GBV) protection system meant to prevent and respond to risks by providing support to victims, strengthening the capacity of key actors to improve the existing referral system and further raise awareness on GBV among Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and host communities.
