Finnish support to UN Women in Kenya 2020-23
Description
The programme is based on the UN Women Kenya Country Office Strategic Note 2019-2022, which is aligned with the global UN Women Strategic Plan (2018-2021), the gender priorities area of the MFA Kenya Country Strategy as well as the Government of Kenya priorities as set out in its national development strategy Vision 2030. The programme has four components: 1) enhancing women's capacities in leadership and participation in political processes, 2) support for the elimination of violence against women and girls, 3) support for women peace and security, and 4) effective programme management. The programme will be implemented at national level and in 4 counties: Marsabit, Kwale, Turkana and Kitui. The programme consists of two overall result areas: 1) to support to the development and implementation of key selected gender equality policies, and 2) at the operational level to increase the number of women a) gaining leadership positions and being effective in decision making for gender equality, b) having access to VAWG services inlcuidng justice and number of stakeholders who engage in social norm and attitude changees towards VAWG, and c) participating in peace and security processes in Kenya. The programme budget includes costs for seconded personnel costs. The total budget is ca. 4,86 MEUR (5,34 MUSD).
