Safety and Security Upgrade of Bosnia and Herzegovina Ammunition and Weapons Storage Sites (SAFE-UP BiH)
Description
A large amount of military surpluses leftover after the 1992-1995 war represents a particularly serious threat to security in Bosnia and Herzegovina. In advocating for the increased disposal of old and unstable ammunition, supporting the introduction of a comprehensive system of ammunition and weapons life cycle management and by improving the physical security infrastructure at targeted military storage sites, the OSCE works closely with the country’s Ministry of Defence and other partners to decrease the risks of accidental explosion, theft and onward proliferation of these dangerous items, including to Western Europe. Support of 100,000 euros will be directed to improving the security of an ammunition depot in Doboj.
