Establishing UN Technology and innovation laboratory (UNTIL) in Finland

Description

The UN Office of Information and Communications Technology OICT has decided to establish a UN Technology and Innovation Laboratory (UNTIL) in Finland. A Letter of Intent has been signed between the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and UN OICT in July 2017. The UNTIL is part of an international technology laboratory network designed to bring together UN personnel, researchers, educational institutions and businesses to promote the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals and other UN mandates through emerging technology. The chosen thematic priorities of UNTIL Finland are education, health, circular economy, peace and security. Other labs will be established to Malaysia, and further at least to Egypt and India. UNTIL is situated in the heart of Aalto University’s campus in Otaniemi, Espoo where there are possibilities creating a whole UN campus subsequently.
