Description
The Caribbean Community CARICOM Secretariat organizes the Third Caribbean Sustainable Energy Forum (C-SEF III) for CARICOM countries, with support from external partners, in Saint Kitts and Nevis on 13-14 September 2012. The objective of the conference is to gather together the central actors in the field of renewable energy in the Caribbean as well as to discuss countries' needs and developing the regional energy policy. The conference contributes to the implementation of the CARICOM Energy Programme. Developing renewable energy is a key priority for CARICOM and its member states. Finland's objective is to support energy sector cooperation between the countries in the region by promoting dialogue in the political and technical level. In this way Finland supports climate sustainability, sustainable energy planning and energy self-sufficiency and promotes the use of renewable energy and energy efficiency. Sustainable energy access is included in Finland's Development Policy Programme 2012. Finland supports organizing the conference with 110 000 euros as part of her cooperation with the Caribbean region.
