Description
The Boko Haram insurgency has displaced over 2.4 million people in the Lake Chad Basin. The crisis has been exacerbated by conflict-induced hunger and malnutrition. Over 1.75 million people have been internally displaced in Nigeria, and over 204 000 refugees have fled to neighbouring countries. The UNHCR's regional response appeal (179,5 MUSD) covers Nigeria, Cameroon, Niger and Chad. The UNHCR's regional response focuses on protection and assistance to refugees, IDPs, returnees and stateless persons.
