Description

On Saturday the 25th of April a 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck the Central and Western Regions of Nepal. There are 8 million people affected in 39 districts, the number of dead is over 4 300 and injured about 8 000. Numbers can still crow. Nepal Red Cross has activated its contingency plan and set-up emergency operations coordination center at its HQ and in three districts. NRCS has a network of 75 district chapters in the entire country. IFRC has released an emergency appeal amount to 33,4 million CHF. IFRC activities focus on immediate life saving medical care, food, shelter, wash and non-food items. Finnish red Cross will deploy a Logistics ERU with the Danish Red. FRC will also provide an X-ray unit for a rapid deployment hospital to be sent by Norwegian Red Cross. FRC has delegates on stand-by from its delegate roster. Two delegates from FRC's Field Communication Team will arrive in Nepal to boost IFRC communication. FRC will send material assistance and it covers 75 000 beneficiaries.
