UNWomen Women, peace and security in the Arab States Programme

Description

The aim of UNWomen programme is to enhance Women, peace and security theme and women’s leadership and to work with countries on developing national action plans on UN SCR 1325. The programme will have a special focus on Iraq, that already has a national action plan. Within the programme there will also be a component for co-operation with the League of Arab States on the WPS theme. The Programme has two outcome goals; outcome 1: The States of Egypt and Tunisia have the frameworks in place to adopt and/or implement a NAP on SCR 1325 and outcome 2: the Arab League has established mechanisms and systems to support national commitment on WPS.
