Deaf Social and Interpretation Service Centre
Description
The project is a pilot project developing Deaf Social and Interpretation Service in Mongolia. The Service will pioneer Mongolian sign language (MSL) interpreter service and social service for the Deaf in Mongolia. Currently, there is no official MSL interpreter service and no training to prepare sign language interpreters. In Mongolia all the sub-districts (bag, lowest administrative unit) of Ulanbaatar have social worker. Yet, social workers can´t communicate with Deaf persons and are unable to give social service. Therefore, trained in social work, Deaf officer can accomplish through this project, Deaf social service for Mongolian Deaf community. Also the project will aim at increasing literacy rate of the Deaf community in Mongolia. Project is seeking to cooperate with Government service workers.
