HALO/Humanitarian Mine Action in Ukraine

HALO’s community-centred clearance programme will support vulnerable populations affected by mines and Explosive Remnants of War (ERW) close to the conflict line in Eastern Ukraine during 2017-2018. The project will 1) promote physical security in the conflict zone in Ukraine by removing explosive hazards, 2) promote economic and social stability, 3) facilitate IDP return, 4) facilitate resumption of livelihood activities and 5) infrastructure rehabilitation through mine clearance of residential areas, farmland and infrastructure sites. The primary beneficiaries of the project are the current and returning population in the conflict zone. Project will also support Government of Ukraine to fulfill its obligations under the Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention. Finland will fund HALO's project during 2017-2018 with 1 million euros.
