Central African Repulic and the neighbouring countries; Humanitarian Assistance via UNICEF
Cenral African Republic is going through the most difficult political and humanitarian crisis in its history. UN estimation is that about one million people have been forced to leave their homes and out of them 416 000 have fled to neighbouring states Cameroon, Chad, Democratic Republic of Congo, and Congo. All these countries were hosting Central African refugees already before the beginnig of the present crisis in December 2013. Neighbouring countries have generously kept the access to asylum possible, but the burden to host communities is enormous and more and more difficult to bear. Within the UN Cluster coordination mechanism UNICEF is Lead Agency in WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene)-, Education- and Nutrition and Child Protection Clusters of the Central African Republic Regional Response Plan.
