Support to EOM to Mozambique

Presidential and Parliamentary Elections in Mozambique will take place in October 2014. EU funds are not enough to cover the costs of an electoral observation mission due to other more pressing priorities. Finland considers the support to an electoral observation mission as an important tool in promoting democracy and good governance in Mozambique. It will improve the rights of citizens and contribute to their empowerment. Support to the electoral observation mission is well in line Finland's Country Strategy in Mozambique as good governance is one of its key cooperation sectors. In addition to Finland, also Denmark, Sweden, Italy, Portugal, UK and Norway will take part in the financing of the mission.
