Early Intervention for Children with Disabilities

Description

The project aims to increase access among children with disabilities to mainstream early childhood care and development (ECCD) services through piloting an early intervention approach and increasing awareness and understanding of the need for early interventions for children with disabilities. The project will contribute to national level thinking on best practice and will strengthen capacities of ECDC service providers in Yangon, Kayin and Ayerwaddy, and support parents in their caregiver role and in engaging with authorities in these locations. The beneficiaries of the project are children with disabilities as well as individuals and organizations engaged in child development activities (ECCD staff, providers of preschool, kindergarten and primary school services as well as parents and caregivers). The budget of the 18-month long project is EUR 120 000 and it's implemented by a Myanmarian NGO Eden Centre for Children with Disabilities (http://www.edencentre.org/) in coordination and collaboration with relevant government and civil society stakeholders.
