Support for strengthening of cooperation among the biodiversity related conventions

In order to implement the Strategic Plan for Biodiversity 2011-2020 and its Aichi Biodiversity Targets, efforts to improve cooperation and collaboration among relevant international processes are more important now than ever. Building on prior decisions of the Conference of the Parties (COP) to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), the twelfth meeting of the Conference of the Parties adopted decision XII/6 on strengthening such synergies.The purpose of the project is strengthen cooperation among biodiversity related conventions in order to enhance implementation at country level particularly in the developing countries. The specific objective of the project is to establish a Party-led process aimed at supporting Parties to the biodiversity-related conventions to enhance synergies and improve efficiency among the conventions, with a view to enhancing their implementation at all levels. A contribution of 200 00 euros will be used during 2015-2016.
