Donor Committee for Enterprise Development (DCED) is an unofficial discussion and development forum of donors working on private sector development. It was established in 1979. The Charter of 2006 sets the permanent objectives and administration for the DCED. DCED aims at advancing economic development for poverty reduction by harmonizing donor cooperation in private sector development and improving its effectiveness. In order to achieve the goal, the DCED concetrates on: (i) defining best practices in priority themes in participatory ways; (ii) drafting and disseminating best practices and successful experiences to the implementing level; and (iii) increasing the effectiveness of development practitioners country-level work. The "main instrument" of the DCED is to advance the development of a results-based approach with an indicator framework in private sector development (so-called Standard). The DCED is also active in international policy influencing work in order to promote private sector development in development policy. The DCED hosts five donor-driven working groups in which the members can participate: Business Environment; Private Sector Development in Conflict Affected Environments; Results Measurement; Women's Entrepreneurship Development; and Green Growth.
