Participating in Global Forum for Migration and Development- process (GFMD)
Description
GFMD is open for UN member countries and observers. It is voluntary based, intergovernmental and non-formal process by which countries can share knowledge and experiences of migration and development. Purpose of the process is to bring together best expertise of migration and development from different countries. Dialogue between the countries is aimed at strengthening the global dialogue, collaboration and partnerships as well as practical activities and results of the topic issues. GFMD process is a state-run, where the host countries change each year. The host country is responsible for the budget of the process. The process includes consultative bodies, such as "Friends of the Forum", Steerign Group and meetings and annual Conference. Finland has identified in GFMD process emphazing of policy coherence and research, so as puting a particular emphasis on human rights-based approach.
