UN Women; Implementing Afghanistan's National Action Plan on UN Security Council Resolution 1325 and Related Resolutions

Finland continues to support Afghanistan in implementing Afghanistan’s National Action Plan on UNSCR 1325 – Women, Peace, and Security, NAP. Finland and Afghanistan started twinning cooperation on UNSCR 1325 in 2010 and NAP was finished in July 2015. In the next phase Finland supports implementing the NAP through UN Women’s The Survivors’ Empowerment Journey Programme (SEJ). SEJ is a collaboration between the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan (GoIRA) and UN Women Afghanistan Country Office. The aim of the programme is to implement innovative prevention of violence against women (VAW) approaches, improve the delivery of protection and reintegration services for survivors of and promote economic empowerment of vulnerable women. Finland supports SEJ’s NAP implementation related activities with 600 000 Euros during 2017-2019.
