TMA TradeMark Africa - support to African economic intergration 2024-2027

Description

TradeMark Africa (TMA), formerly TradeMark East Africa (TMEA), is an Aid-for-Trade organization founded in 2010 with the aim of increasing prosperity through increased trade. Through its activities, TMA has significantly promoted trade and regional integration in East Africa and the Horn of Africa in terms of shortened cargo transit times, improved border efficiency and reduction of trade barriers. While TMA continues to leverage its core trade facilitation expertise, it will evolve its focus to harness the potential of digitalization, support African exporters to pioneer low carbon trade, address the core trade factors behind food security, and promote inclusive trade. By increasing trade volumes and enhancing the sustainability and inclusiveness of trade, TMA aims to deliver large-scale job creation, poverty reduction and enhanced economic growth. Finland's support for TMA is general support. Finland has supported the program since 2010. The amount of support has been MEUR 6 in the years 2010-2016, MEUR 9.8 in the years 2017-2020 and MEUR 10.5 in the years 2021-2023. TMA's operations have been regionally impressive and it has achieved good and concrete results in the development of the commercial operating environment of the East African region, e.g. in shortening transport times, promoting women's cross-border trade and law reforms.
