Women and Girls Say "NO" to Trafficking

Kuvaus

During the last few years, the Government of Egypt acknowledged that trafficking in Egypt is a multi-faceted challenge that must be addressed in an integrated manner and counter trafficking activities are gathering momentum. A National Coordinating Committee on Preventing (NCCP) and Combating Human Trafficking was established 2010 to collaborate with all governmental and non-governmental agencies working in the field of Human Trafficking. In addition, the ground breaking comprehensive anti-trafficking law 64 was issued in 2010. This Law not only criminalizes the offence of trafficking, but also provides for the appropriate protective measures for victims. In December 2010, all these efforts culminated in the development of a National Plan of Action Against Human Trafficking. This Plan of Action is a comprehensive project aimed at combating trafficking through partnership and joint collaborations. This project seeks to contribute to reducing the rate of trafficking in women and girls through combating the causes leading to it, in the areas of Aboul-Nomros, El-Hawamdeya and El-Badrashin in Giza”. With this regard, the project will work on the following objectives: 1. Improving the economic conditions of actual and potential victims of trafficking and their families 2. Improving the educational and psychological status of actual and potential victims of trafficking
