Helsinki Diplomatic Community exploring Finnish nature

The Helsinki Diplomatic community  is invited annually by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs for a winter activity. This year a planned winter activity day melted away with the snow. The Finnish winter was exceptionally short and the snow did not last very long, so the Ministry decided to organize a Spring Activity Day instead. The Helsinki based diplomats with families were invited for a day in the Finnish nature in the Nature Center Haltia on May 27th, 2016.

About 90 members of the diplomatic community had the opportunity to hike in the Espoo Nuuksio forest, discover orientation with GPS equipment in the wilderness, to play the Finnish game Mölkky and to try archery.

It also offers beautiful hiking tracks and possibilities for many kind of outdoor activities. Haltia has become a popular place for leisure activities as it is only 40 kilometers away from the Helsinki city center.
