Europe Forum Turku invites to talk about Europe

The theme of this year’s Europe Forum Turku on 27–28 August is “Finland in the EU for 25 years”. The speakers and panelists will discuss Finland’s present and future role in Europe and in the European Union. The public is invited to participate in this third Europe Forum online. The Ministry for Foreign Affairs is one of the organisers of the event.

EU card game and reflections on the EU’s unity

What happens when a journalist, MEP and public official meet on a summer day in Turku to play a game of cards about EU25? Humorous as well as more serious questions challenge the panelists and public at an event organised by the Europe Information. The panelists are MEP Alviina Alametsä, Anniina Luotonen from the Finnish News Agency STT and Mika Kukkonen, Director at the Unit for General EU Affairs and Coordination of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs. The discussion will take place on Friday 28 August at 12.15–13.00 and it will be moderated by Elina Ravantti, Director General of Communications at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs.

The coronavirus pandemic has highlighted the role of the European Union in producing stability and security for its member states. The unity of the European Union is also crucial in terms of the EU’s power in foreign policy. Among the members of the panel on decision-making and unity of the EU on Friday 28 August at 13.15–14.45 is Kai Sauer, Under-Secretary of State at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs.
