Minister Skinnari to visit Germany

Minister for Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade Ville Skinnari will visit Berlin, Germany, on 22–23 February

Minister Skinnari will hold discussions with Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development Svenja Schulze. He will also meet with Susanne Baumann, Secretary of State at the Federal Foreign Office, Udo Philipp and Patrick Graichen, State Secretaries at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, and State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Finance Jörg Kukies, who is also adviser for economic and EU matters for the German Chancellor.

The discussions will focus on Germany's new Government policies, especially its development policy and trade policy, and on opportunities for cooperation in the green transition and digitalisation. Other topics of discussion will include climate funding and cooperation within the framework of the Team Europe initiatives in EU development policy.

At meetings with representatives of German industry and Finnish companies based in Germany, the Minister will discuss opportunities for cooperation, for example in the fields of energy and digitalisation.

“It is important for us that in the discussions with the new German Government topical questions and future challenges are examined. Germany, which is the current G7 Presidency, is a key partner for Finland both bilaterally and in EU policy, and Germany’s importance for Finnish companies as our country’s largest trading partner is crucial,” Minister Skinnari says.
