Delegations are at the heart of EU diplomacy
Diplomatic contacts between the EU and non-EU countries are an important part of the EU’s Common Foreign and Security Policy. Some 140 EU Delegations located around the world are at the core of the diplomatic relations. They represent the citizens of the Union and promote the EU’s objectives and values. They also manage all policy areas in the relations between the EU and the host country.
In addition, the Delegations are tasked with increasing the EU’s visibility and raising awareness of the Union. The EU also has Delegations to international organisations, such as the UN and the World Trade Organisation.
