Call for applications for 2023 discretionary government grants for Europe information to open in November

In November 2022, the Ministry for Foreign Affairs will open a call for applications for discretionary government grants for civil society organisations’ Europe information in 2023. Applications will be accepted from 4 November to 2 December 2022. Application guidance and application forms will be published on the Europe Information's website when the call for applications opens. Europe Information will organise an information event for civil society organisations on Tuesday 8 November 2022.

Support for civil society organisations’ EU-related information campaigns

The goal of the discretionary government grants for Europe information is to increase awareness of the European Union and promote topical debate about the EU. The grants will be awarded if Parliament allocates the necessary funds in the 2023 Budget. The grants are intended specifically for information campaigns.

Each year, the call for applications prioritise selected topical EU themes. The priority themes for 2023 are:

•    The EU as a human rights actor and a promoter of democracy
•    Direction of the EU’s economic and energy policy
•    The EU as a global actor: Common Foreign and Security Policy and the EU’s role in conflict resolution
•    The EU’s enlargement

The Act on Discretionary Government Grants (688/2001) will be observed in the awarding, disbursement, use and monitoring of the use of the grants. The grants are discretionary, and they are available to Finnish non-profit civil society organisations that have been registered in the Finnish Register of Associations for at least one year by the end of the call for applications. Grants cannot be awarded to private individuals or groups.
