Britain's Brexit Secretary pays a visit to Helsinki

The Rt Hon David Davis, British Secretary of State for Exiting the European Union, is visiting Helsinki today, on Tuesday 27 February.

During his brief visit, Secretary of State David Davis will meet Minister for Foreign Affairs Timo Soini and Minister for European Affairs, Culture and Sport Sampo Terho. The visit is a part of the Secretary of State's tour of European capital cities; this week, he will also visit at least Stockholm and Copenhagen.

The Brexit negotiations between the EU and the UK are currently focusing on the transitional arrangements. The aim of the joint meeting between Ministers Soini and Terho and Secretary of State Davis is to discuss the state of play in the negotiations and to hear details of the UK positions on the transitional arrangements, presented at a general level so far.

Finland wants to retain its close relationship with the UK. It is important that the good cooperation will continue in, among other things, trade and security matters.
