New Head of Mission to Portugal and dual accreditations
At the presidential session on Friday, 30 September 2016, the President of the Republic decided to appoint Counsellor for Foreign Affairs Tarja Laitiainen to serve as Head of Mission of the Embassy of Finland to Portugal from 1 October 2016. New dual accreditations and an authorisation were also granted.
Counsellor for Foreign Affairs Tarja Laitiainen was appointed to serve as Head of Mission of the Embassy of Finland to Lisbon, Portugal.
At present, Laitiainen is working as the National Security Authority in the Ministry for Foreign Affairs.
Laitiainen has previously served as the Ambassador of Finland to Bulgaria and Luxembourg and as Roving Ambassador to Afghanistan and Pakistan. In the Ministry, she has also worked as Director of the Unit for Asia and Oceania. She joined the Foreign Ministry in 1980.
Laitiainen has written articles to several publications and published a book entitled Taksi Kabuliin (A taxi to Kabul, Otava, 2006).
Dual accreditations
Ambassador Pekka Hukka, Head of the Embassy of Finland to Dar es Salaam, will represent Finland also in Rwanda.
Ambassador Jukka Siukosaari, Head of the Embassy of Finland to Tokyo, will represent Finland also in Palau.
Ambassador Anne Saloranta, Head of the Embassy of Finland to Windhoek, will represent Finland also in Angola.
Authorisation granted to a Roving Ambassador
Roving Ambassador Jukka Pietikäinen, who is based in the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, was authorised to represent Finland also in the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) and the Caribbean Community (CARICOM).
