Finland’s Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto to attend informal meeting of NATO Ministers of Foreign Affairs

An informal meeting of NATO Ministers of Foreign Affairs will be held in Oslo from 31 May to 1 June. This will be the second meeting of NATO Ministers of Foreign Affairs which Finland attends as a member of the Alliance.

The foreign ministers will discuss preparations for the NATO Summit in Vilnius in July, where the topics will include providing support to Ukraine, reinforcing NATO’s deterrence and defence, agreeing on defence investment and building defence industry capacity. The meeting will be chaired by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg

“Finland’s priority at the meeting is to promote Sweden’s membership in NATO before the Vilnius Summit in July. Additionally, ensuring continued support for Ukraine is crucial for Finland and NATO,” says Minister for Foreign Affairs Haavisto.

Minister Haavisto will also have bilateral meetings in Oslo.
