Foreign Minister Haavisto to attend Council of the Baltic Sea States forum in Berlin

Minister for Foreign Affairs Pekka Haavisto will attend the Baltic Offshore Wind Forum of the Council of the Baltic Sea States (CBSS) in Berlin, Germany, on 9 May. The Baltic Offshore Wind Forum is hosted by the German Minister for Foreign Affairs Annalena Baerbock and the Danish Minister for Foreign Affairs Lars Løkke Rasmussen.

Foreign Minister Haavisto will also have bilateral meetings with German ministers, among others. The meetings will focus on bilateral relations, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and energy security, among other topics.

“The current geopolitical environment has heightened the importance of regional cooperation between the Baltic Sea countries,” Minister Haavisto says.

Finland will take over the Presidency of the Council of the Baltic Sea States from Germany. Finland’s Presidency will start on 1 July 2023 and end on 30 June 2024.
