Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Tavio to lead trade mission to China

Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Ville Tavio will lead a trade mission to China and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region on 4–8 November.

In Shanghai, Minister Tavio will attend the China International Import Expo (CIIE), where Finland has its own national pavilion. The CIIE is one of the largest trade and product fairs in the world. The Minister will also meet Chinese state leadership and leaders of the City of Shanghai. The discussions will focus on the commercial and economic relations between Finland and China and the opportunities and challenges of China’s business environment. Shanghai has the biggest cluster of Finnish businesses in China.

From Shanghai, Minister Tavio will travel with a delegation of Finnish business representatives to Shenzhen in southern China. The programme for his visit includes healthcare export promotion events, where local businesses will be present. The Minister will also meet with the leadership of the City of Shenzhen. He will end his visit by travelling to the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, where he will meet Financial Secretary Paul Chan and Secretary for Health Chung-mau Lo to discuss trade relations between Finland and Hong Kong and business opportunities for Finnish companies.

“China is an important trading partner for Finland, so it is useful to support export promotion and trade in sectors that benefit Finnish businesses. This is the fourth time that Finland has a national pavilion at the CIIE. The healthcare sector also provides interesting opportunities for cooperation, and Finnish businesses have excellent solutions to offer there,” Minister Tavio says.
