Finnish Embassy in Myanmar to suspend operations until further notice

Finland’s Embassy in Yangon, Myanmar, will suspend its operations until further notice starting on Sunday 29 March 2020.

The Embassy’s opportunities of operation have essentially deteriorated due to the coronavirus pandemic. The mission is located in a fragile area, which is why its operation and maintenance is subject to special requirements.

The mission has helped Finnish travellers who had submitted a travel notification and who were willing to leave the country. After the closure of the mission, Finland’s relations with Myanmar will be handled from the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in Helsinki.
